This is the high cross at Drumcliff, Sligo, Ireland. It is at the site of a monastery founded by Columcille in about the year 525. I made the photo on April 25, 2007.
William Butler Yeats mentioned this cross in the poem "Under Benbulben" and the last lines of the poem are on Yeats grave marker near the cross.
Under bare Ben Bulben's head
In Drumcliff churchyard Yeats is laid,
An ancestor was rector there
Long years ago; a church stands near,
By the road an ancient Cross.
No marble, no conventional phrase,
On limestone quarried near the spot
By his command these words are cut:
Cast a cold eye
On life, on death.
Horseman, pass by!
